In this guide, I’ll walk you through how I deployed an OpenLDAP proxy to route LDAP queries to a remote Active Directory (AD), without having access to modify the remote AD server. Along the way, I encountered issues with LDAPS, StartTLS, and authentication — and I’ll show how I diagnosed and solved each of them.
